The BBC recently featured our research facilities on Look North. Read more about the Covid19 research currently ongoing at the Astbury Biostructure Laboratory electron microscope facility.

The Astbury Biostructure Laboratory Electron Microscopy Facility is currently offering access to state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopes for COVID-19 research. A research group from the University of York is taking advantage of this access, as featured on the BBC’s Look North program. Researchers from the University of York are producing COVID-19 proteins which are being analysed by researchers at Leeds using single particle cryo-electron microscopy. Work on this project is currently ongoing, and results will be shared by the York group as soon as possible.

This work is being funded by Instruct ERIC, a pan-European research infrastructure in structural biology, making high-end technologies and methods available to all European researchers.
